UCAT PREPARATION COURSE

Whatever stage you’re at in your preparation, we’ve got you covered. Our UCAT course starts with us teaching you strategies to recognise and solve question types, and finishes with you confidently smashing through sections in the appropriate time.

Why study with us?

Before you read this section, or consider joining our UCAT course or any other UCAT course, consider this: the most important factor in scoring well in the UCAT is NOT tutoring or any UCAT course, no matter how they are marketed to you. The key to scoring well in the UCAT is consistent, effective practice over time, which can only be done by you individually. If you’re not putting in work every day to practice and improve, no UCAT course or tutoring is going to help you.

Online question bank access

Our online question system contains thousands of questions organised into untimed practice sets, timed practice sets and full length exams which we use to teach you during the sessions.

A personalised learning experience

What we teach depends on where you're at in your preparation - each session is organised into small groups based on ability, so whether you need to learn strategies or smash through exams, we've got you covered.

Tutors you can trust

All of our UCAT tutors achieved among the top UCAT scores in the country (minimum 98th percentile) and are currently studying in medical school themselves, meaning we know the questions and strategies back to front.

24/7 access to guidance

The key to scoring well in the UCAT is consistent, effective practice over time, which can only be done by you individually. All of our weekly students get unlimited access to our question helpline, where students can get study tips and strategies from our tutors throughout the week.

Support for all students

We hate how lucrative UCAT tutoring is. If the only thing restricting you from joining our sessions is the cost, let us know and we'll subsidise either part or all of the cost for you.

Supporting a good cause

Our UCAT course is completely not-for-profit, meaning that all money we have left after paying tutors and resources is donated to a charity which the students choose at the end of the programme.

Course information

Cost

Our UCAT sessions cost $20/hr, which is equivalent to $60 for each 180 minute session. This will be billed in advance with an invoice added to your Altitutor account at the start of each month, to be paid via credit card or direct debit.

If you cannot afford these fees, we provide subsidies for students in disadvantaged circumstances, so they can study for free or a reduced fee. Click here to find out more and apply.

We hate how lucrative UCAT tutoring is. And we're not just saying that - to put our money where our mouth is, our UCAT course is completely not-for-profit, meaning that all money we have left after paying for tutors and resources is donated to a charity which the students choose at the end of the programme.

Cancellations

If you can't make it to a session for any reason, simply let us know at least 24 hours before the session. We don't charge any late or cancellation fees if the absence is informed at least 24 hours before the session, or in the case or medical or family emergency.

Online question bank

Our online question bank contains thousands of practice questions organised into:
1. Full length untimed practice sets
2. Full length timed practice sets
3. Full length timed exams

This is reflective of how our UCAT course is taught - we will start with untimed sets as you learn how to solve questions, then improve timing using progressively faster timed sets. During the final weeks of preparation, we do as many practice exams as possible so you can track your improvement.

Student are free to access the online system during the week in between lessons.

Location

Sessions will take place at the Altitutor office, which is located on Level 2, 100 Currie St Adelaide SA 5000

Our method

Consistent revision

The key to UCAT success is not tutoring, or any UCAT course (including ours) - success is more attributed to consistent revision so you can improve over time. During each session, we assess each student's progress during the week, and give them tips to guide their at-home study.

Personalised help

Our UCAT sessions are organised into small groups based on which stage the student is up to. If you need to learn how to do questions, a tutor will sit with you and go through strategies. If your timing needs to improve, we'll sit with you and go through practice questions until you get faster.

Step 1: Learn

We start by going through questions slowly with students, one section at a time, so you can learn how to recognise and solve each question type. This stage is completely untimed, so students can work at their own pace and ask as many questions as they want.

Step 2: Prepare

In stage 2, we introduce timing to each section, starting with whatever timing the students have and then slowly speeding them up until they can complete each section in the required time.

Step 3: Assess

In the final stage, we go through an exam every week, and then score and rank students against their peers so they can track their improvement in the final weeks leading up to their UCAT test.

Our resources

Untimed practice sets

Designed to help you learn strategies to solve the questions, our untimed practice sets each aim to teach a specific aspect of each section.

Timed practice sets

Timed practice sets are done via our online system and aim to gradually improve question timing until you’re able to do questions at the pace of the real UCAT.

Full-length exams

Written to be as close to past UCAT tests as possible, our full length exams help simulate the real thing, so you feel more comfortable in your actual test.
